Rocks Gone Wild tamed in the outback! Part two of Rock Gone Wild…the end.

The day finally came when Matt and I tamed the Mountain of Mess …outback!

Everlasting mess makes me grumpy!!!

Don’t get me wrong, working with natural stone is dusty and messes can’t be avoided. Art is all about discovery.  I change my mind about this and that until everything works together perfictly.

Thank goodness for the calmer times when you can take the time to tame…it helps make me sane!

Does an Artist need to Blog?

customers first draft

I am a multi-media artist and of the belief that my work speaks to the level of my expertise.  Who knew the most ancient art of mosaics would inspire & challenge me to create in stone, glass and porcelain.

I have lived a lifetime of exploring art to unleash my creative spirit. Yet, this power to create mosaics has consumed my soul like no other media.

There are times when the end result astonishes me!

I am really looking forward to meeting our newest Art Mosaics of the Carolinas, LLC distributors.

It is so nice to find people who love our work and want to share it with their clients. There are actually quiet a few people that do not know what an art mosaic is. People do know about the mosaic sheets that hold stone, porcelain or glass tile – and a medallion is a piece of jewelry to many. We love our distributors because they tell people about us and reach people we would never meet.

We offer a very unique, personal service. Clients who add art mosaics to their home or business that make an elegant statement of their personal style! We value our clients opinion and always include them in the creative design process. Together we use accents, colors, photos, material, themes, shapes and size as inspiration to design and build every mosaic. Our clients enjoy the process and so do I. It is very rewarding and I strive to exceed their expectations.

Matt works hard to find our distributors and we look forward to building the very best working relationships with all of them.

RED UP…do you know what that means?

Working as a mosaic artist, the stone, porcelain, and glass can become a Mountain of Mess before you know it.  We have been blessed with really wonderful commissions this year.  We do our best to red up after every project. The extra pieces and parts still escape into a studio nuzzling their way into that crazy and overwhelming – Mountain of Mess.

Do you ever become so overwhelmed that your creative ability get blocked?

This past week, I started a few new mosaic projects while trying to ignore my surrounding… but nothing flowed. Tunnel vision no longer worked!  That darn M of M  blocked the road to my creative spirit & developed a voice that grew from a whisper to a scream that had to be silenced!

Being one that loves to conquer demons and up for a challenge, this past week was devoted to Redding Up …the Mountain of Mess.

Alleluia, the voice in my head is the song of harmony, creativity flows…my world is a calm and a peaceful place once more.

Do you feel at peace when you Red Up?

PALMETTO ADVENTURE LAND PARK

PAL is a community built park in Carolina Forest, Myrtle Beach S.C.

What a great memory!  Assisting the school children who picked a nautical theme for the park then designing and building the mosaics for this wave wall was a true adventure.  We worked in the studio for ten days straight before installation on the large components of the mosiac.  Installation day came and wonderful volunteers showed up to help with installation.  The sun was shining, the birds were singing and the volunteers were smiling!  That is why I love what I do so much.  We look forward to our next mosaic community project!

We Have A Typical Two Year Old!

Cannot believe we have a two year old!  Mister Wonderful, my husband, Matt and I launched Art Mosaics of theCarolinas, LLC on August 1, 2009.

While we all know kids can be a treasure, nurturing a new business in a sluggish economy has presented some real challenges and a few problems.

The most exciting commissions have given me the courage to reach deeper into my creative incite than I ever thought possible. It is a true joy to satisfy a client’s need with beautiful Art mosaics that are very unique and inspired by our clients wants and desire.  Happy faces and satisfied loyal customers make my days complete.

This brings us back to the real challenge we face today.  The sluggish market and fear.  How do we all return to the normal life we had as consumers?  For two years we have tried to compete in the old fashion marketing ballpark… the team didn’t show up to play ball and left us nothing but strike outs!!!

Well, it seems to me those days are gone and if we intend to move forward we have to learn how to hit a home run differently.

So I blog today as a hope for the future…and a wish for many new clients to make my future days complete.
